July 22, 2010 Featured No Comments

Best used car ever? That’s what some might say. Some being the experts at J.D. Power and Associates. Their Vehicle Dependability Study, which measures the overall dependability of cars by analyzing problems reported by original owners over the course of three years, paired with independent evaluations of professional auto reviewers, paints a pretty picture for the Toyota Prius as one of the best buys out there for a used car. See for yourself at your nearest used car dealership, or tempt your eyes with the new cars in the showroom at your Salt Lake City new cars dealer.

The Toyota Prius is definitely your best choice if environmentalism is at the top of your list. When the vehicle debuted in 2001, it provided an impressive EPA-estimated fuel economy of 41 mpg, with many drivers reporting even higher real-world figures. But even more importantly, the Prius’ outstanding fuel economy doesn’t come at the expense of performance.

Test drivers report that the car is adequately powered and comfortable to drive. Plus, the Prius’ spacious cabin and cargo hold make it practical for everyday use. Mother Proof writes: “A car that’s better for the environment, easy on the fuel budget and has all the necessary features, plus a few extras? And room for five? That car’s a winner in my book.” Edmunds is chiming in on the praise as well; according to them, the Toyota Prius is the best bet for a used hybrid car – a claim made after factoring in safety, reliability, value and availability.

And now is the perfect time to buy a used car – everyone knows that times are tough in this economy, and buying a used car over new can save you tons, without sacrificing much more than that new car smell. According to Edmund’s, the ideal time to buy a car is when the vehicle is 2-3 years old, and never older than seven years. The Toyota Prius ranked best during the years 2003-2008, so there’s plenty of 2007 and 2008 models left to be had for the picking.
